Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outperformed his teammate at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
